• The reaction rates for samples containing oxidizable or hydrolyzable ions (ferric iron, aluminum or
manganese) may be slow enough to cause drifting endpoints.
Acidity values can be determined in three ways:
• pH measurement
• Titration to a pH endpoint of 3.7 (methyl orange acidity, strong acidity)
• Titration to a pH endpoint of 8.3 (phenolphthalein acidity, total acidity)
The
HI84530
mini titrator uses a method based on the Standard Methods of Water and Wastewater
Determination.
The water sample is titrated with sodium hydroxide until a fixed pH endpoint (8.3 or 3.7).
The endpoint is determined by the potentiometic input.
