1.7.9 Configuring LDP MD5 Authentication
To improve the security of LDP sessions, you configure MD5 authentication for the
used TCP connections.
Follow these steps to configure LDP MD5 authentication:

1.7.10 Enabling MTU Signaling
For correct path MTU detection, an IP router needs to know the MTU of each
connected link.
LDP can automatically calculate the minimum MTU of all interfaces on an LSP. At
ingress, MPLS uses the calculated minimum MTU to determine the size of the MPLS
forwarding packets, preventing a packet of a bigger size from being dropped by a
transit LSR.
Follow these steps to enable MTU signaling:
To do…
Use the command…

Enable LDP capability

Required
Enable MTU signaling

Optional
Enabled by default
Note:
Enabling/disabling MTU signaling will cause existing sessions to be reestablished and
all LSPs of the sessions to be reestablished accordingly.
1.8 Configuring LDP Instances
LDP instances are for carrier’s carrier networking applications of MPLS L3VPN. You
need to configure LDP capability for existing VPN instances.
