Measure the depth of the hook at the load supporting point. The hook should be replaced if the depth at the
load supporting point is 10% larger than the original measurement.
• The hook should be replaced if it is bent or distorted by more than 10° compared to a new hook.
• Replace the catch if it is missing.
• Repair or replace the catch if it is not working properly.
• Do not a hook if the catch does not close properly, or does not cover the opening on the hook.
• Do not use corroded, deformed or otherwise damaged hooks.
CHAIN

Check the chain every month. Check the chain daily for damage,
corrosion, welding spatter and deformation. Check the chain
according to the instructions below if it does not run smoothly
over the gears.
• Clean the chain with solvent before checking.
•
Carry out a test lift, and check that the chain runs smoothly over
the gears.
• Slacken the chain and check the contact surfaces for wear (a).
•
Measure with callipers the internal length of 5 links with moder-
ate load (b). Replace the chain if the length exceeds the largest
permissible measurement shown in the table.
