Options menu 2
Options menu 2 allows to set parameters for the acoustical
signal [Beep] and the knob [Enco].
Acoustical signal
The beep will signal each pushbutton activation and will also
sound off in case of mistakes. Activation and selection of volume
is done in the menu BEEPER SETUP, The volume may be chosen
from None over Soft to Loud.
Activation of the knob
The menu “ENCODER SETUP“ allows to turn the knob function
on [ON] or off [OFF].
Options menu 3
Options menu 3 allows to select between internal or external
reference frequency [Ref]. [Disp] is used to defi ne the resolution
of the frequency display.
Reference frequency [Ref]
In the standard execution the HM8131-2 contains a stable crystal
oscillator. As an option the HO86 TCXO can be ordered which
features an accuracy of 5x10
-7
. This option can only be factory
installed or installed by the HAMEG service.
If a still higher accuracy is needed the internal oscillator can
be disabled and replaced by an external one which has to be
connected to the rear panel terminal [10 MHz IN/OUT]
. The
external reference must comply with the respective HM8131-2
specifi cations .
Selection of the reference frequency source
Go to the menu OPTIONS MENU 3, item [Ref] and select either
[Int] or [Ext]. This will be displayed each time the instrument
is turned on.
[Out] will cause the internal 10 MHz reference to
HINT
be switched onto the terminal 10 MHz IN/OUT [19].
STOP
If the frequency of the external source should be
outside the specifi ed limits an error message will
be displayed. The instrument must then be re-tur-
ned to internal reference operation, otherwise the
frequencies from the generator will not be correct.
Resolution of the frequency display [Disp]
[Disp] will call the menu FREQUENCY DIGITS which allows to
select the resolution of the display between 5 and 12 digits using
the pushbutton array
.
Options menu 4
Options menu 4 is used to set the contrast and the brightness
of the LCD display [Lcd]. [Date] will set the date and time.
LCD menu [LCD PARAMETERS]
[Contrast] selects the contrast in 8 steps. The brightness of the
backlighing can be selected from off to maximum in 8 steps.
Date and time
The HM8131-2 has no real time clock. [Date] will allow to enter
date and time which is important especially when using memory
cards. These values remain stored until changed. Their meaning
may be quite different, e.g. also the date and time of the last
calibration. This menu can only be left by [ESC].
