Haldex Brake Products Ltd has identified the need to register, as a small producer of batteries, under the batteries
directive.
The batteries directive 2006 / 66 / EC applies across the EU, but the exact requirements differ slightly in each
country.
There are two pieces of UK legislation that are derived from the EU Batteries Directive 2006 / 66 / EC. They are,
namely, the batteries and accumulators (placing on the market) Regulations 2008, and the Waste Batteries and
Accumulators Regulations 2009. The former relates to labelling requirements for new batteries introduced onto
the market, and the latter to producer responsibility for the recycling of waste batteries.
Haldex Brake Products Ltd has fulfilled its obligations under this Directive; but as an end user you must discard
your old batteries, or any products containing fixed batteries, by either of the following methods:
›
At an authorised disposal point.
›
Via a registered hazardous waste contractor – in line with the hazardous waste regulations.
