User must read and understand the content of this manual before using the product. Misuse can lead
to accidents. The winch should only be used by a competent person who is familiar with the operation
of the device. This document must be kept available to users throughout the product life cycle.
Intended use
This winch is suitable for both lifting and pulling (observe the capacity in different applications according to the
ID plate of the device). The winch is equipped with an automatic brake and a detachable handle/lever,
and it’s
supplied without a wire rope and base mounting accessories. The crank mechanism is either on top of the
winch or on its side depending on the model. The winch has been designed to withstand the following tests:
1) dynamic proof test at coefficient 1.1
2) static proof test at coefficient 1.5
Precautions
•
Before use, make sure that the winch is properly attached to a level platform which structure is strong
enough to withstand the stress caused by operation. Ensure the attachment of the handle/lever.
•
Use only the wire rope type recommended on the ID plate and observe the winding direction shown
by the arrow. Also verify the wire rope
end’s firm fastening in the designated clamp on the drum.
•
Always keep at least 3 turns of wire rope around the drum.
•
Wear suitable personal protective equipment when handling the winch/load/wire.
•
Check the product for visible signs of damage before each use. Do not use a defective product
– if
faults are found, turn to a professional.
Safety regulations
•
Don’t lift/pull loads exceeding the rated capacity specified on the ID plate of the appliance.
•
Don’t unwind the drum completely (keep at least 3 turns on the drum).
•
Don’t pull sideways, swing the load, use the winch to lift staff or go (or let anyone else) under the load.
•
Don’t use unsuitable, damaged or spliced wire ropes or hooks which are in poor shape.
•
Don’t insert objects into the moving parts. Make sure the work area is safe.
•
Don’t take actions on the appliance under load.
•
Don’t disengage the winch from its platform, release the drum off the gear wheel or dismantle the
winch (or its components) under load.
•
Don’t allow the load to fall freely.
•
Don’t motorize the appliances.
•
Don’t use the wire rope of the appliance as a sling.
•
Don’t modify the product in any way or use it with adapters.
Inspections, maintenance and storage
•
A thorough inspection must be conducted and recorded on a regular basis (at least once a year).
Check the wear of brake linings regularly.
•
All maintenance must be performed by a qualified person.
•
Periodically lubricate the gears. Do not lubricate the brake system
– it must be kept dry and clean.
•
When the equipment is in a state of decay likely to create risks, the user is obliged to remove the
product from service i.e. put it out of operation (dismantle it if required).
•
Keep the product clean and store it indoors in a safe place protected against corrosion.
