A1 Safety Information
For your own safety, you should observe the following warnings. The safety warnings in-
dicate a possible source of danger. At the same time they give information how to avoid
damage.
DANGER!
Voltage and frequency must be within the range specified for the unit.
Note!
Do not use the instrument in areas of high humidity or in areas where water may
splash!
In case of repair, the equipment must only be opened by an authorized service techni-
cian. Avoid extreme temperature changes.
NOTE: As from 12 August 2005 devices bearing this symbol must not be
disposed of in domestic or industrial wastes. Current legislation (EU Di-
rective 2002/96/EG) requires that, from that date, used products with this
symbol must be returned to the manufacturer for disposal, at no cost to the
user.
NOTE: Similar restrictions (EU Directive (2006/66/EG) apply to the disposal
of batteries and accumulators). However, there are often collection points
and shops in your area where these products can be deposited without
charge, rather than return them to the manufacturer.
NOTE: Instructions for the correct disposal of all electrical products supplied
by Hach-Lange (with or without a symbol) are available from your regional
Hach-Lange sales outlet.
Warranty and liability
The manufacturer guarantees that the product supplied is free from defects in materials
and construction and undertakes to repair or replace any defective products free of
charge. The guarantee period for devices is 36 months. The manufacturer accepts liabil-
ity as follows for any deficiencies, including the absence of promised characteristics, to
the exclusion of any further claims : All parts which become unusable, or whose suitabil-
ity for use is significantly affected, within the guarantee period beginning with the date of
the transfer of risk, as a consequence of any circumstance existing before the transfer of
risk and in particular as a result of defective design, inadequate materials or deficiencies
in execution, will be repaired or replaced free of charge by the supplier, who will decide
whether repair or replacement is to be made. Such deficiencies must be advised to the
supplier in writing and without delay, within 7 (seven) days of the detection of the defi-
ciency. If the customer does not comply with this requirement, the goods shall be con-
sidered as having been accepted despite the deficiency. No further liability is accepted
for direct or indirect damage. If maintenance and inspection work to be carried out during
the guarantee period is specified by supplier for execution by the customer (mainte-
nance) or by the supplier (inspection) and these requirements are not met, no claims
shall be accepted for damages arising from non-compliance with these requirements.
Further claims, in particular for consequential damages, cannot be pursued. Consumable
items and damage caused by inappropriate handling, inappropriate installation or inap-
propriate use are excluded from these terms and conditions.
