Connecting DAC and AOC cables
To connect ports over a short distance, use DAC or AOC cables as follows:
•
To connect SFP+ ports, use SFP+ DAC cables.
•
To connect QSFP+ ports, use QSFP+ DAC cables or QSFP+ AOC cables.
•
To connect QSFP+ and SFP+ ports, use QSFP+ to SFP+ DAC cables.
•
To connect QSFP28 ports, use QSFP28 DAC cables or QSFP28 AOC cables.
All these cables are hot swappable.
The connection procedure is similar for DAC and AOC cables. The following uses an SFP+ DAC
cable as an example:
To connect an SFP+ DAC cable:
1.
Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is reliably grounded.

Unpack the cable.
3.
Connect the cable connector to the port. Make sure the cable connector is the right side up.
The bend radius of the cable must be a minimum of eight times the cable diameter.
