Solar charge controller SL 12/24-8
3 connecting a conSUMer
First, connect the „+“ of the consumer to the middle connector of the terminal
block on the right of the solar charge controller (with the lamp symbol). Then
connect the negative cable „–“ to the right connector of that same terminal
block. The pin assignment can be seen with the symbols on the controller or
from the picture in the manual.
note!
Please make sure that consumers, that should not be turned off by the protection
system of the solar battery charger, (i.e. emergency lights or radio links), should
be connected directly to the battery.
Consumers with larger power consumption, (larger than the current output of the
charge controller) should be connected directly to the battery. In these cases,
the deep discharge protection of the solar battery charger does not function. In
addition, the consumers must be separately protected accordingly.
the SySteM iS not working. poSSible caUSeS:
– Reverse polarity of the battery:
melted fuse; replace fuse with the same type.
– Incorrect polarity of modules:
avoid this under all circumstances.
– Switched polarity of the consumer:
the consumers can be destroyed before the
fuse is triggered. Batteries hold large quantities of energy. If short circuited,
this energy is released in a short time. This can lead to immense heat and thus
can cause a fire at the point of the short circuit and explosion of the battery.
SerVice
– To prevent damage to the batteries it is important to make sure that the
batteries are never fully discharged!
– Ensure adequate ventilation of the room during the charging process!
– Do not open the cell plugs of lead-acid batteries!
– Before charging lead-acid batteries, check the level of acid!
– Check the acid level of lead-acid batteries at regular intervals during a long
charging period!
– Avoid open flames, naked light and sparks near the battery when it is being
charged (risk of explosion)!
– Always follow the charging instructions of the battery manufacturer.
