18.11 Gardner test protocol

Pre-test phase: Subject stands on the footboards, not on the belt.
The Gardner test protocol serves to evaluate the
maximum walking distance of peripheral arterial
disease subjects with intermittent claudication.
The test is to be performed under constant supervision
of a medical doctor.
The subject first stands on the side footboards of the
running machine and not on the belt. Start test profile
11 and the belt speeds up to 3.2 km/h. As the subject
steps onto the running belt, the doctor presses the
START key again. By pressing the START key the
second time, the displays will be reset to zero.
