1. General description
The SPO pump is available in two versions:
• pump with suction strainer for submerged installa-
tion and
• pump with base plate for dry installation.
The pump is available with or without float switch.
2. Applications
SPO pumps can be used in
• wells
• first collection tanks or reservoirs
• Roman wells
• streams
• domestic systems for distributing water and water-
ing.
2.1 Pumped liquids
The SPO pumps are designed for pumping thin,
clean, non-aggressive and non-explosive liquids, not
containing solid particles or fibres.
3. Transportation and storage
3.1 Transportation
The pump should not be exposed to unnecessary im-
pact and shocks.
Note:
Do not lower or lift the pump by means of the
supply cable.
3.2 Storage
The pump must be stored indoors in a dry position.
Note:
Pumps with base plate must be drained before
storage.
4. Technical data
See pump nameplate.
Liquid temperature:
0°C to +40°C.
Installation depth:
Maximum 20 metres below liquid level (pump with
suction strainer).
Storage temperature:
–10°C to +40°C.
Operating pressure:
Maximum 10 bar (pump with base plate).
Enclosure class:
IP 68.
Sound pressure level:
The sound pressure level of the pump is lower than
the limiting values stated in the EC Council Directive
98/37/EC relating to machinery.
5. Installation
The pump must be installed in a frost-free location.
Note:
The pump must not be installed hanging from
the supply cable.
The pump is not allowed to run against a closed dis-
charge valve.
Install the pipes so that the pump is not exposed to
mechanical stress.
Pump with base plate:
Install the pipes so that air locks are avoided, espe-
cially on the suction side of the pump, see fig. 1.
It is recommended to fit a non-return valve in the
suction pipe.
Prior to installation, read these installation
and operating instructions. Installation and
operation must comply with local regula-
tions and accepted codes of good prac-
tice.
The pump must not be used in or at swim-
ming pools, garden ponds, etc. when there
are persons in the water.
Before starting work on the pump/motor,
make sure that the electricity supply has
been switched off and that it cannot be ac-
cidentally switched on.
