4.2 P-Zone application
A Grundfos iGRID P-Zone prefabricated pumping station is used
for pressure boosting in the district heating network. Two setups
are possible:
• The typical setup with the district heating supply flow pipe
connected to the pump or pumps and with the district heating
return pipe run through the pit to install a flow, temperature or
pressure sensor
• The reverse setup with the pump or pumps positioned in the
district heating return pipe and with the district heating supply
flow pipe run through the pit to install a flow, temperature or
pressure sensor.
4.3 T-Zone product description
Grundfos iGRID T-Zone is a prefabricated pumping station for
incorporation in a new or existing district heating network where
controlled recirculation from the return pipe to the supply pipe is
desired in order to reduce the flow temperature.
The pit is constructed from PE (polyethylene) and is delivered as
standard with the following pre-assembled components:
• inlet and outlet pipes
• Isolating valves
• non-return valves
• pump or pumps including control unit
• temperature sensor
• mixing point
• connection points for sensors.
Inlet and outlet pipes for district heating connections are made of
steel lined with PU foam insulation and an outer sheath of PE
material welded to the pit wall at the pipe passage.
The pipe connections to the pump or pumps inside the pumping
station are assembled with flanges, bolts and gaskets inside the
pit.
The exterior pipe connections are welded to the buried district
heating pipes in the district heating network.
The pump has one or more pumps of the CRE or TPE type built-in
for pressure boosting.
The pit provides the possibilty of incorporating a flow sensor
including a number of pressure and temperature sensors as
needed.
The pit is fitted with non-return and drain cocks to empty the
pipes of district heating water in the pit during service and
maintenance.
iGRID T-Zone is delivered with either a heavy load top cover or a
standard top cover according to the requirements of the customer
depending on the location of the pit.
4.4 T-Zone application
A Grundfos iGRID T-Zone prefabricated system is as standard
used for controlled recirculation from the return pipe to the supply
pipe in the district heating network.
4.5 Pumped liquids
4.5.1 Viscosity
The viscosity of the pumped liquid must not exceed the
permissible viscosity level of the pump or pumps. See the pump
installation and operating instructions for more information.
4.5.2 Liquid temperature
• Maximum temperature: 120 ° C for pumped liquid in the pit.
For higher temperatures, contact Grundfos.
4.5.3 Pressure
• Maximum pressure: 16 bar for pumped liquid in the pit. For
higher pressure, contact Grundfos.
