12.1 Recommended cleaning intervals for
sensors in standard pumps
For cleaning of sensors, see section
.
12.2 Required cleaning intervals for
sensors in explosion-proof pumps
For cleaning of sensors, see section
.
12.3 Inspection intervals
Pumps running normal operation should be
inspected every 3000 operating hours or at least
once a year. If the dry-solid content of the pumped
liquid is very high or sandy, check the pump at
shorter intervals.
Check the following points:
•
Power consumption
See pump nameplate.
•
Oil level and oil condition
When the pump is new or after replacement of the
shaft seal, check the oil level after one week of
operation.
If the oil contains more than 20 % water, the shaft
seal may be defective. The oil should be changed
every 3000 operating hours or at least once a
year.
Use Shell Ondina 917 oil or similar type.
See sections
.
• For cleaning of sensors, see section
.
The table states how much oil the pumps must have
in the oil chamber:
•
Cable entry
Make sure that the cable entry is watertight and
that the cables are not sharply bent and/or
pinched.
See section
.
•
Pump parts
Check the impeller, pump housing, etc. for
possible wear. Replace defective parts.
See section
.
•
Ball bearings
Check the shaft for noisy or heavy operation
(turn the shaft by hand). Replace defective ball
bearings.
A general overhaul of the pump is usually required
in case of defective ball bearings or poor motor
function. This work must be carried out by
Grundfos or an authorised service workshop.
Warning
When slackening the screws of the oil
chamber, note that pressure may have
built up in the chamber. Do not remove
the screws until the pressure has been
fully relieved.
Note
The cleaning intervals in section 12.1
are stated as guidelines and should be
matched to the specific tank.
For explosion-proof pumps, the
cleaning intervals in section 12.2 must
be observed.
Note
During long periods of inactivity, it is
recommended to check the function of
the pump.

Warning
Except for service on the hydraulic
part, all other service work must be
