when operating this machine.

2. While holding base plate, carefully pull body
of saw out to desired angle.
Note: Refer to angular scale along side of
bevel gauge.
3. Tighten front and rear bevel gauge knobs.
The cutting angle of the blade can be set between
0°–45° with the bevel gauge.
To set cutting angle:
1. Loosen front and rear bevel gauge knobs
(see
Figure 13).
There are generally two types of cuts made with
this saw—straight cuts and plunge cuts.
Straight cuts are made with the blade already
extended, with the cut beginning on one edge of
the workpiece and ending on the opposite side.
These cuts work well for cutting objects into sepa-
rate pieces and for straight-lining rough lumber.
To make straight cuts:
1. Set depth of cut (see Setting Cutting Depth
on
Page 19).
2. Position front of saw on workpiece, leav-
ing enough room for blade to fully extend
from bottom without coming into contact with
workpiece (see
Figure 14).
