8  CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  The cleaning and maintenance of the ex-

ternal components of the machine must be

carried out with the main selector switch in

the “1” position or in the “2”position and

with the plug disconnected from the elec-

trical socket.

  Before carrying out any cleaning or main-

tenance operation on the machine, wear

Personal Protective Equipment (gloves,

glasses, etc.) that has been established by

the safety norms in force in the country of

use of the machine.

During the Cleaning or Maintenance works, follow as de-
scribed below:

•  Wear protective gloves;

•  Do not use solvents or flammable materials;

•  Do not use abrasive and/or metallic sponges when clean

-

ing the machine and its parts;

•  Be careful not to disperse liquid into the surrounding;

•  Do not wash machine parts in the dishwasher;

•  Do not use a standard and/or a microwave oven to dry

machine parts;

•  Do not immerse the machine in water;

•  Do not spray water jets directly on the machine;

•  For cleaning, use only lukewarm water so as not to dam

-

age the machine parts.

•  At the end of work, restore and properly secure all the

protections and covers removed or opened.

Periodically remove the water tank and rinse it with clean
water then put it back properly in its place.

  Note: The stainless materials, plastic mate-

rials, the rubber used in the construction of

the said parts and their particular shape

facilitate cleaning, but do not stop the for-

mation of bacteria and mould in the case of

insufficient cleaning.

  It is forbidden to clean or carry out mainte-

nance of the machine with the selector

switch in the “1” and “2” position with the

plug inserted into the wall socket.

8.1  Daily cleaning

Clean the water dispensers and the undercup gaskets of the
dispensing units by utilising a cloth or a sponge.

8.2  Weekly cleaning

Clean the groups and the brew head filters:

a)  Approximately  put  a  spoonful  of  the  machine’s  deter

-

gent (the most suitable product for cleaning the units

and the water dispensers of coffee machines) into the

empty filter supplied and use it to clean the unit.

b)  operate the machine as you usually do when making cof-

fee, for about 5 sec;

c)  turn the brewing switch on and off, until water comes

out clean and without any foam.

Repeat operations b) and c) above a couple of times.

Clean filters and filter holders:

•  Dip filters and filter holders in a solution of hot water and

approx, three small spoonfuls or special coffee machine

detergent;

•  After about half an hour take them out and rinse them

carefully under running water.

Clean the steam pipes:

We recommend cleaning them right after use by making

some steam come out to help clean the inside of the spout,

and wiping the outer surface with a damp doth.

This operation prevents scaling which can clog the holes of

the spray nozzle from building up and it also prevents previ-

ously brewed drinks from altering the taste or the drink you

are making.

Clean the draining tray:

•  Take  out  the  steel  water-collecting  tray  located  under

the cup grids and clean it;

•  Check and clean the small plastic draining basin as well.

Clean the machine’s body:

•  Use a damp cloth;

•  Do not use any alcohol and/or solvents on the written on

painted parts in order to avoid damaging them.

Periodically, depending on the amount of coffee dispensed

or the use of the steam or hot water dispensers, carry out:

•  The purification of the water softener.

•  Regenerate the resins of the water softener using salt.

•  Check the filters of the filter holders, the water dispens

-

ers and the gaskets for wear and substitute if necessary

or call a technician to substitute them.

•  Unscrew the end of the steam dispenser/s and wash it/

them with the appropriate product and always thor-

oughly rinse before reutilising.

•  Weekly, or at least periodically if not much water is uti

-

lised in the boiler, flush with water from the tap to avoid

that the water inside goes stagnant.
