PSL 5.0 Pump Station Level Controller
CALIBRATION
Calibrate the PZ Sensor for Level Measurement
1. Before starting the calibration determine:
a)
MAX RANGE = ________________
(Maximum range = distance from Sensor to Zero level)
b)
MAX LEVEL = ________________
(Maximum level of product being measured)
c)
MIN RANGE = ________________
(Distance from sensor to Max Level)
Minimum range = MAX RANGE - MAX LEVEL
(must be at least 8" / 203 mm depending on sensor model)
IMPORTANT: see note on previous page if using redundant 4-20mA input.
2. Check the maximum range with the sensor installed by:
a)
When liquid is at zero level press  to view the Range reading in the
Status menu. Use this range measured by the PSL 5.0 as the Max Range
setting.
or
b) Carefully measure distance from sensor to zero level with a tape measure,
and use this measurement as the Max Range setting.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT 4-20mA/0-5VDC ANALOG OUTPUT:
The PSL 5.0 does not allow for independent 4-20mA/0-5VDC output span
configuration. The 4mA/0VDC point will always equal a range
≤
min range if
in Range mode, or a level
≤
max range if in Level mode. The 20mA/5VDC will
equal a range
≥
max range if in Range mode, or a level
≥
max range if in Level
mode.
Examples:
The PSL 5.0 sensor is installed in a lift station with a Max Range of 15 ft, and a
Min Range of 5 ft. The PSL 5.0 is in Range mode, selected in the Units/Mode
menu. When the water level in the tank is 15 ft away from the sensor, the meter
reports 20mA, and when the level is 5 ft away from the sensor, the meter
reports 4mA.
The PSL 5.0 sensor is installed in a lift station with a Max Range of 15 ft, and a
Min Range of 5 ft. The PSL 5.0 is in Level mode, selected in the Units/ Mode
menu. When the water level in the tank is 15 ft away from the sensor, the meter
reports 4mA, and when the level is 5 ft away from the sensor, the meter reports
20mA.
