Elevator trim compensation for fl ap commands
If elevator trim correction is required when the cam-
ber-changing fl aps are deployed, this can be set up in

… by selecting the “Flaps 6
3 Elevator” mixer, and
entering a suitable value in each fl ight phase. If you
have assigned the same transmitter control to inputs
5, 6 and 8 – as described above – then all six fl aps
move simultaneously, while the elevator moves in ac-
cordance with the set mixer input.
Flap following for elevator commands
The fl aps can be set up to reinforce the effect of the
elevator; this is normally used in high-speed fl ying to
improve the model’s agility around the lateral axis,
and is also set up in the menu ...

… by setting the mixers “Elevator 3
6 Flaps” and
“Elevator 3
5 Aileron” separately for each fl ight
phase. Both the secondary fl aps (servos 6 + 7) and
the ailerons (servos 2 + 5) follow the movement of the
camber-changing fl aps in accordance with the set mi-
xer ratio – usually in the opposite direction to the ele-
vator.
To force the two inboard fl aps (servos 8 + 1) to “fol-
low” this movement, move to the menu ...

… and set up an “EL
8” mixer for each fl ight phase.
These mixers have the effect of making both inboard
fl aps follow in the
same direction
when an elevator
command is given – provided that you have already
set up the dual mixer as described on page 142.
On the second page of the screen, set up a mixer ra-
tio suitable for the model and the fl ight phase in ques-
tion.
To ensure that these mixers – in our example Linear-
MIX 2 and LinearMIX 3 – work as required in the ap-
propriate fl ight phases, you now have to move to the
menu ...

… and determine which mixer is to be disabled in
which fl ight phase. This is done by switching between
the fl ight phases and setting the two mixers to “yes”
or “no” as required.
Using airbrakes
If the model features airbrakes in addition to the wing
fl aps – and if your receiver still has a vacant output
socket (9 or higher) – you can control them using the
Ch1 stick, which until this point has not been assig-
ned a function. To do this you have to set up a further
free mixer “Ch1
9”, which causes a servo connec-
ted to output 9 to extend and retract the airbrakes.
If necessary you can adjust the characteristics of the
airbrake control system in the »
Channel 1 curve
«
menu.
If your model needs automatic elevator trim correction
when you extend the airbrakes, this can be achieved
without the need for an additional mixer. Simply use
the pre-programmed wing mixer “Brake
3 Elevator”
in the »
Wing mixers
« menu.
However, you still have to ensure that the elevator is
not affected by the Ch1 stick when the airbrakes are
retracted, and to this end the mixer neutral point (off-
set) of the “Brake
3 elevator” mixer has to be ad-
justed accordingly.
This is carried out in the menu ...
