Grounding
Proper grounding is an essential part of maintaining a
safe system.
Check your local electrical code for detailed grounding
instructions for your area and type of equipment. Be
sure to ground all of this equipment:
•
Pump
: use a ground wire and clamp as shown to
the right.
•
Hydraulic hoses and fluid outlet hoses
: use only
electrically conductive hoses.
•
Hydraulic power supply and air compressor
:
follow manufacturer’s recommendations.
•
Spray gun
: obtain grounding through connection
to a properly grounded fluid hose and pump.
•
Fluid supply container
: according to local code.
•
Object being sprayed
: according to local code.
•
Any pails used when flushing
: Use only metal,
grounded pails when flushing. Make firm
metal-to-metal contact between the metal part of
the spray gun and the pail. Use the lowest possible
pressure.
• To maintain grounding continuity when flushing or
relieving pressure, always hold a metal part of the
gun firmly to the side of a grounded metal pail, and
then trigger the spray gun.

The equipment must be grounded to reduce the risk
of static sparking. Static sparking can cause fumes
to ignite or explode. Grounding provides an escape
wire for the electric current.
