Remove the old fixture. Make yourself a sketch of how the fixture is
wired (index the sketch by wire color) or mark the wires themselves
with masking tape and a pencil so you will know how to connect the
wires to your new fixture (
Fig. 2
). If several wires are involved or if the
wiring seems more complicated and perhaps even includes a red
wire, take note of the connections before you disconnect them.

DO NOT USE THIS FIXTURE WITH A DIMMING CIRCUIT.
If you presently have dimmer
controls, you will need to remove them and replace them with regular electrical switches. If you
have a three way dimmer, you will have to replace it with a regular three way switch.
If you are
unfamiliar with electrical installations, we recommend you have a qualified electrician do your
installation.

INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO A RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS:
1. Turn off / unplug and allow to cool before replacing bulb (lamp).
2. Use only with a linear fluorescent bulb:
G9713-T5-WHES-I Bulb #F8T5;
G9725-T5-WHES-I Bulb #F14T5/CCT-3500K/120 volt/10,000 hour rated lamp life
fluorescent bulb;
G9734-T5-WHES-I Bulb #F21T5/CCT-3500K/120 volt/10,000 hour rated lamp life
fluorescent bulb.
3. Handle bulb(s) with care during replacing. The glass tube of bulb is very fragile and can
break easily.
IMPORTANT:
The fluorescent bulb is included with your Good Earth Lighting® fixture. In order to
protect the bulb during shipment, your bulb(s) may be packed in a separate area of the packing
materials. Additonally, your bulbs may already be placed into their respective sockets, but may
have a protective support collar slipped over the bulb. Do
NOT
operate your fixture with this
support collar in place. You can either cut this collar off or remove the bulb from the sockets, and
slide the support collar off the bulb. Discard the support collar.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. THIS LAMP IS FOR INDOOR USE ONLY.
Once you have determined the position the fixture will be
mounted, mark the corresponding knock-out closest to the
insulated multi-wire end and remove it (
Fig. 7
).
CAREFULLY
REMOVE THE KNOCK-OUT BY HAMMERING A FLATHEAD
SCREWDRIVER OR PUNCH UNTIL THE SURFACE BREAKS.
If the
knock-out did not break free, use pliers and bend it back and
forth until it snaps off.
Attach a wire coupling by inserting the threaded end (from
outside the fixture) through the knock-out. Secure the wire
coupling to the fixture's chassis by tightening the fastener (from
inside the fixture (
Fig. 8
).
NOTE:
Remember to have the wire
coupling screws oriented in a manner that allows you to
tighten/loosen the clamp after the fixture has been attached to the
mounting surface.
Remove the diffuser by pulling back and up on the top edge of the
diffuser using your fingertips (
Fig. 1
).
Place fingertips above the locking tab on the face of the wire
compartment, press on the cover and lift up (
Fig. 5
).
NOTE:
You may
have to disengage each before it can freely be
removed. Once the wire compartment is free,
remove it and set it aside (
Fig. 6
).
NOTE:
Inside you
will find the hardware kit that contains all the
hardware necessary for a normal installation.
While holding the fixture up against the mounting surface, use a
pencil to mark the locations of the keyhole slots onto the mounting
surface (
Fig. 4
).
Remove the bulb from the fixture by placing your thumbs on the
metal ends of the bulb. While applying slight pressure on the bulb,
roll the bulb toward you until the contact pins on the
ends of the bulb disengage from the socket (
Fig. 2
).
Pull the bulb straight out from the socket and set
aside during mounting (
Fig. 3
).
