2.8 Camera setup and parameter setup
After determining the location, height, angle of depression, focal distance, and viewable
angle of the cameras, please do the following adjustments for camera vertical angle, and
parameter settings.
Camera Vertical Angle
For the indoor environment with ceiling height lower than four meters, it is suggested that
the camera also takes view of the ceiling (Pic. 2.8-1).
The VFDS™ server allows for smoke “dead zone” settings. Above the dead zone
demarcation, it is no-moving-object area; and under the demarcation, it is the area with
moving objects. Appropriate setting of demarcation will shorten detection time and avoid
false alarm. It is strongly suggested to adjust it.
(a). View angle excludes ceiling (not suggested)
(b). View angle includes ceiling (suggested)

Camera ALC (Auto Level Control) Adjustment
System designer should turn the camera’s ALC to around 3/4 (refer to Pic.2.8-2). This can
decrease color variation by light compensation, and lead to improved detection effectiveness
and avoid false alarm.
