SECTION 3 - START-UP PROCEDURE
1.
Confirm all wiring is correct and connections are tight.
2.
Check that all input/output voltages and polarities are correct.
3.
Turn ON the DC BATTERY circuit breaker.
4.
Turn ON the DC SOLAR INPUT circuit breaker (if a DC input power source is attached).
5.
The Silent Generator™ Power System will start in the inverter mode within 6 seconds.
6.
Turn ON the 20A 125/250VAC circuit breaker providing AC power to the Silent Generator™ Power System. The system
should switch to charge mode. Please refer to the Apollo Inverter/Charger User’s Manual Section 5.2 for LCD screen
descriptions.
7.
Connect and turn on an appliance, such as a hair dryer or toaster, to the Silent Generator™ Power System, verify load
wattage on LCD screen.
8.
Disconnect the AC and DC power inputs to the Silent Generator™ Power System. The System will switch to back-up
mode and continue to provide power to your appliance. Disconnect appliances from Silent Generator™ Power System
and reconnect the AC and DC power inputs.
SECTION 4 - CONNECTING LOADS
Loads may be connected to the Silent Generator™ Power System thru the 2-15A VAC GFCI receptacles and/or thru the 20Amp
125/250 VAC L14-20 receptacle. Gradually add load, monitoring the Silent Generator™ Power System LCD to ensure the total
loads do not exceed 4000w in total. If the Silent Generator™ Power System is overloaded, it will shut off and not restart until
loads are removed and then restart after 6 second delay. All loads connected to the Silent Generator™ Power System will be
provided power without interruption as along as the batteries are properly charged.
SECTION 5 - BATTERY MAINTENANCE and REPLACEMENT
The Silent Generator™ Power System uses VRLA AGM sealed batteries, full charged and ready to use from the factory. The
Silent Generator™ Power System should be installed and connected to an AC or DC power source within 90 days of purchase.
While the batteries have a design life of 10 years, long periods between charging (self-discharging), more frequent
charge/discharge cycles and extreme ambient temperatures can reduce actual battery life to 5 years or less. While the batteries
are maintenance-free, avoid frequent (daily) discharging of batteries to more than 50% of their capacity. Under extreme
conditions, occasionally discharging to an 80% level is acceptable. Total discharging will reduce battery life and permanently
damage the batteries. Gen/Tran recommends setting up a bi-annual maintenance schedule to check the condition of the
batteries. If batteries need to be replaced, ONLY use a Gen/Tran approved battery, call Gen/Tran for pricing and availability. Use
of unauthorized batteries will void the warranty and could potentially damage the system.
SECTION 6 – TROUBLESHOOTING
Use the following troubleshooting guide to help diagnose problems. Thoroughly inspect the Silent Generator™ Power System
wiring and cable connections. Correct any wiring problems before performing any tests or replacing any components.
6.1 BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING
In case of a Silent Generator™ Power System failure, check the following BEFORE calling your installer:
1.
Check that all power cord and cable connections are tight.
2.
Check that the dedicated 20A 125/250VAC 2-Pole circuit breaker in your load center is ON.
