Carburettor
When the machine leaves the factory, the carburettor is optimally adjusted according to the barometric and meteorological conditions prevailing on the site of
the production plant.
Apart from routine maintenance during use, it is advisable for carburettor repairs or adjustments to be carried out by personnel from the GEISMAR / STIHL
sales or repair network.
Periodically check the maximum engine speed (10000 rpm). A check must be made before the machine is used for the first time, since atmospheric conditions
and altitude may have a significant impact on this adjustment.
For the purposes of verification or adjustment, the machine must be fitted and immobilised on a rig in order to measure the engine speed under load. (Never
exceed 10 seconds of impact operation. Allow pauses of approximately 1 minute between impact sequences).
If the speed of rotation of the impact mechanism is too high, this may result in premature wear of certain parts, or even serious operating incidents.
For the purposes of this inspection, use an electronic tachometer (Ref. HLN). If the engine speed exceeds 10000 rpm under load, do the adjustment again.
Turn the carburettor adjustment screws only very slightly and with great care, since the smallest rotation results in a significant change in the engine running
speed. Adjustment of the screws on this carburettor are only possible within narrow limits. If the mixture setting is too weak, this may result in a lack of
lubrication and consequent overheating.
Standard adjustment
Stop the engine.
Inspect the air filter (replace it if necessary
see
5.1.11).
Inspect the spark protection grille of the silencer (clean or replace it if necessary
see §5.1.5).
Taking care to be accurate:
H
Turning anticlockwise, tighten the high speed mixture screw until it reaches the stop (no more
than ¾ of a turn).
L
Turn the idling mixture screw clockwise until it reaches the stop, then come back by 1 turn.
Idling adjustment
If the engine stalls when idling
L
Adjust the idling mixture screw so that it is open by 1 turn.
LA
Turn the idling speed stop screw clockwise until the socket starts to be dragged, then come back 1 ½ turns so that the socket is no longer dragged
when the engine is idling.
If the socket is dragged at idle
L
Adjust the idling mixture screw so that it is open by 1 turn.
LA
Turn the idling speed stop screw anticlockwise until the socket stops, then move a further 1 ½ turns in the same direction.
If after this adjustment the socket does not stop when the engine is at idling speed, have the portable wrench repaired by a specialist dealer.
