11.11  Releasing the motor brakes (EMERGENCY lowering device)

Releasing the drive brake is used exclusively for reaching the next landing

level down in an emergency. This enables people trapped in the car to

evacuate themselves.

WARNING

Triggering the safety gear by lowering too quickly. This

disables the car which must then be subsequently

enabled. Only lower the car very slowly.

The drives are located on the roof of the car.

Remove the extensions (1) for the

brake release lever (2) from the

bracket and place over the brake

release lever (2).

Carefully release the motor brake by

pulling on the extended brake levers (2).

Car glides downwards.

After every 3.3 – 6.6 ft-(2 metres) of

lowering, stop for approx. 2 minutes to

avoid overheating the brakes.

After the emergency descent, replace the extensions (1) in the bracket.
