GETTING STARTED

POWER

After safely connecting the supplied PSU first to the
keyboard and then to the mains power, press the
POWER button (2) to turn on the instrument. The
LED display (13) will light up. When this display is
not required for a specific function, it will show the
current tempo, which defaults to 120BPM. Pressing
the power button again will turn off the keyboard.

VOLUME ADJUSTMENT

Control the master volume by pressing the MASTER
VOL +/- buttons (3). The LED display (13) shows
the volume level from “U00” to “U15”. Pressing the
+/- buttons simultaneously will reset to the default
volume level.

The accompaniment volume can also be adjusted,
using the ACCOMPANIMENT /- buttons
(4). The LED display (13) shows the accompaniment
volume level from “A00” to “A15”.

WARNING! To prevent damage to your hearing,
speakers, and other audio equipment, reduce the
volume and have the power off before connecting
to any other equipment.

DEMO SONGS

The MK-4000 has 12 in-built demo songs. Press the
DEMO ONE button (15) to play a single demo song
on a loop. “d01” will show on the LED display. Press
DEMO ONE to stop playback. Press DEMO ONE
again to start playing the next demo song. The
display will indicate which demo song is playing.

Press the DEMO ALL button (16) to play all 12
songs in sequence. Press DEMO ALL again to stop
playback.

The tempo of the demo songs can be adjusted
using the TEMPO +/- buttons (5).

When playing demo songs, use the +/- buttons
on the number keypad (19) to move to the next or
previous song, or enter a 2-digit number from 01 to
11 to select the songs as required.

TIMBRE SELECTION

Press the TIMBRE button (15) followed by the
required timbre number on the number keypad
to select from 100 different timbres, numbered 00
to 99. The default tone will be “00 Acoustic Grand
Piano” (“t00” on the display). Use the +/- controls
on the number keypad (19) to scroll through the

different sounds. When using other functions, press
the TIMBRE button (15) to return to/enable to the
timbre select function.

RHYTHM SELECTION

Press the RHYTHM button (20) followed by the
required rhythm number on the number keypad
to select from 100 different rhythms, numbered 00
to 99. The default rhythm will be “00 16 Ballad 1”
(“r00” on the display). Use the +/- controls on the

playback. When using other functions, press the
RHYTHM button (20) to return to/enable to the
rhythm select function.

FILL-IN

Pressing the FILL-IN button (29) will momentarily
change the rhythm patters, to add variety to your
performances. Fills can be added at any time
during rhythm or auto-accompaniment playback.

INTRO/ENDING

This button allows you to insert an intro section at
the start of a rhythm or add an ending section at
the end of your performance. Press the INTRO/
ENDING button (28) before starting the rhythm to
add the intro, and again during playback to add the
ending section and then stop the rhythm.

TEMPO

Use the TEMPO +/- buttons (5) to increase or
decrease the rhythm speed. The tempo range is 60-
240BPM, in increments of 4BPM. The default tempo
will be 120BPM. Pressing and holding either the +/-
buttons will adjust the tempo quickly. Pressing both
tempo +/- buttons simultaneously will reset to the
default 120BPM value.

METRONOME

The MK-4000 has an in-built metronome feature
that can be started and stopped by pressing the
METRONOME button (22).

The number of beats per measure can be set from
1-8. The first time the METRONOME button is
pressed the metronome sound will play one beat
per measure and the display will show “1-0”. Press
the METRONOME button again to stop playback,
the display will show “OFF”. The second time the
METRONOME button is pressed the metronome
sound will play two beats per measure and the
display will show “2-0”. This sequence continues up
to 8 beats per measure, then cycles back to 1 beat
per measure.
