4. Standards and Recommendations for Battery Use
4.1 Warnings
This instrument uses lithium ion batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries; for this reason
we recommend not working at high temperatures or high pressures. The following conditions
can generate undesirable chemical reactions which can cause the battery to overheat, the
emission of fumes, fire and/or explosion:
1) Throwing the battery into a fire or heating it
2) Making holes in the battery using nails or other sharp objects, hitting it with a hammer, or
crushing it
3) Immersing the battery in water or connecting the positive (+) and negative (-) with metal
objects such as necklaces, paper clips, etc.
4.2 Notes
The battery can only be recharged using the battery charger provided or indicated by the
manufacturer.
Charge the battery for at least 5 hours the first time; thereafter to not recharge for more than
12 hours.
Keep the instrument turned off when recharging the battery.
Store the battery at a temperature between 0 °C and 40 °C.
If the battery is not used for long periods of time, charge at least once every 15 days to
prevent excessive discharge.
The battery is a consumable part.
4.3 Handling and Disposal
Improper connection of the battery can cause an explosion.
When replacing, always use a battery supplied by the manufacturer.
Do not burn the battery or throw it away.
Contact a waste management company and determine where the nearest collection center is
for used batteries.
