Important:
Ensure, that the crumb tray is in place before operating the toaster.
Otherwise crumbs may become charred on the bottom of the toaster and stick to
the surfaces.
1. Prepare the toaster for use: Completely unwind the power cord, place the toa-
ster on an appropriate surface (level, dry, and heat-resistant) and connect the power
plug to an appropriate power outlet (see: ›Important Safeguards for Electrical Appli-
ances‹). Using a sharp knife, cut the food (bread or similar cakes and pastries) in
slices of even thickness and appropriate size: max. 13 x 13 cm; ½ to 3 cm thick.
Try to get a smooth cut and remove the crumbs.
2. Insert a slice of bread in each slot of the toaster.
3. Turn the browning control to select the desired browning: 1 (light) to 9 (very
dark). For the first use, it is recommended to select a medium browning level (exam-
ple: 4; see: ›Tips for Best Results‹).
4. Carefully press down the on/off handle until it engages in the LIFT & LOOK posi-
tion. The CANCEL button illuminates.
Note:
The on/off handle will not engage in the LIFT & LOOK position unless the toaster
is connected to the power supply and you selected a browning level to switch on
the toaster.
The toasting process is automatically controlled and the LED display indicates the
remaining toasting time. When the selected browning level is reached, a beep
sounds, the toaster switches off automatically, and the on/off handle goes back to
its idle position.
Instruction for using the bun warmer: Place the bun warmer warmer onto the slots
at the top of the toaster, ensuring it is securely placed. Set the browning control to
setting 1 to 3. Depress the bread carriage lever until it holds down. Wait for the
toaster to switch off automatically, or press the ›CANCEL‹ button to switch the toa-
ster off before removing the buns. Repeat the operation again if desired brownness
is needed. Take care not to touch the metal of the bun warmer as this will be hot.
TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
• You may cancel the toasting process at any time; simply press the CANCEL but-
ton.
• The required browning level depends on your special liking and the type and
freshness of the toasted cakes and pastries. For example: a short toasting time
(low browning level) is sufficient for toasting raisin pastry and fine white bread;
but for toasting rye bread you must select a higher browning level to get a simi-
lar result.
