11.15 Removing the shock absorber
Preparatory work
–
Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand. ( p. 38)
–
Turn tap handle of the fuel tap to the OFF position.
–
Remove the fuel tank. ( p. 52)
–
Remove the air filter box. ( p. 47)
–
Remove main silencer. ( p. 51)

Main work
–
Pull off foot brake cylinder

from the push rod

–
Lift the rear wheel and secure it.
–
Remove screw

–
Remove the shock absorber from the top carefully.

Main work
–
Position the shock absorber carefully from above.
–
Mount and tighten screw

Guideline
Screw, bottom shock
absorber M10 50 Nm (36.9 lbf ft)
–
Push the foot brake cylinder

onto the push rod

–
Unlock and lower the rear wheel.
Finishing work
–
Install the main silencer. ( p. 52)
–
Install the air filter box. ( p. 48)
–
Install the fuel tank. ( p. 53)
–
Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. ( p. 38)
