nect one cable of the first valve to the cable of the Watering
Controller connected to terminal
1.
3. Connect all other valves to the Watering Controller with one
cable in the same way as the first valve.
4. Using a cable clip, connect the second cable of each valve
to the cable of the Watering Controller connected to terminal
COM
(C).
The maximum permissible distance between the Watering
Controller and the valve depends on the cross-section of the
connection cable. For a distance of 30 m, the cross section is
0.5 mm
2
and 0.75 mm
2
for a distance of 45 m. No more than
3 valves must be in operation at the same time.
1. Screw the retaining plate
8
to the wall.
2. Push the Watering Controller onto the retaining plate
8
from above with the back
9
of the controller nearest the wall.

4. Putting into Operation
Before programming your Watering Controller, install a 9-V battery
to prevent loss of data if a power failure occurs.
1. Unscrew the screw
1
of the connection box and remove the
cover.
2. Insert the cable of the power supply unit
2
into the 24 V (AC)
terminals and screw tight.
3. Insert the cable for the valves
4
(e.g. 7-core GARDENA
Connecting Cable
Art. 1280
) into the terminals numbered
1
to
6
and
COM
(C) and screw tight.
4. Attach the battery to the battery clip
6
and push into battery
compartment.
5. If you are using a sensor (e.g. GARDENA Moisture Sensor
Art. 1187
), insert the sensor cable
5
and secure with a cable
grip.
6. If you intend to use the master channel, insert the cable
for the master channel
3
into the terminals labelled
M
and
COM
(C) and screw tight.
7. Fit the cover on the connection box and screw in the screws
1
.
8. Plug the mains plug of the 24 V (AC) power supply unit into
a 230 V mains socket.
Plugging in the power supply will reset the Watering Controller;
the time is set to
00::0000
and the day of the week is not set. The
TTIIMMEE
and
00
(for the hours) start to flash. You must now enter the
current time and day of the week (see 5. Operation
“Setting the
time and day of the week” ).
The master channel is a channel that can be operated at the same
time as other channels. This is important, for example, if you want
to use a pump to supply your irrigation system with water and if
the pump should always be activated each time an irrigation valve
is activated.
The pump can be operated by connecting it to the Master
Channel with the
GARDENA pump control art. no. 1273
.
1. Label the valves so that they can be easily assigned to the
channels.
2. Using a cable clip (e.g. GARDENA Cable Clip
