10 Turn the steam knob (16) anticlockwise to

empty out the contents of the water tank

MACHINE IS RINSING

11 When the machine rinse cycle is completed

the display will show:

RINSING FINISHED
CLOSE KNOB

12 Close the tap, reload the circuit and let the

machine heat up

If you use a product other than the
recommended one, you should

follow the manufacturer’s directions on
the package.

11.1 Interrupting the descaling cycle

If the descaling cycle is interrupted
by switching the machine OFF, it will

automatically resume when the machine is
switched back ON.

The descaling cycle can be interrupted by turning
the steam knob (16) clockwise and then pressing
the button (27).
The display will show:

DESCAL. INTERRUPTED
EMPTY WATERTANK

Warning! After interrupting the cycle
you must empty the water tank of the

descaling solution and wash out the tank
with fresh drinking water; the machine
circuit must be cleansed by carrying out a
rinse cycle. The display will show:

RINSE MACHINE
PRESS KEY

Follow the directions for a normal rinse cycle
provided in section 8 of the previous chapter.

12 FUNCTION PROGRAMMING

The user can change some machine
operating parameters according to

personal needs.

12.1 MENU/OK command

In order to program functions you must access
the programming mode by pressing 

“MENU/

OK”

 (28) when the machine is in a standby status.

To select the desired function, press the “

button to move up one line or the “

” button to

move down on the display.

To exit the programming mode press 

“ESC”

12.2 Choosing individual functions

Select the desired function by pressing “

” or

”. Press 

“MENU/OK”

 to enable the desired

function; you can browse the selectable settings
using the “

” or “

Ú

” button; to store a setting

press 

“MENU/OK”

.

Note: by pressing “ESC” you can exit
the programming mode at any time

without saving the changes made; exiting
without saving is possible only before you
have pressed “MENU/OK”.

12.3 Description of programmable

functions

ENERGY SAVING

If the appliance is used little, it may be switched to
the ENERGY SAVING mode. This function allows
electricity costs to be reduced. However, it is
recommended to switch the appliance off completely
using the on/off switch (7) if it is not to be used for a
prolonged period. It will take the machine just a few
minutes to heat up when you switch it back on.

• In the programming mode press “

” or “

to select the function:

ENERGY SAVING

and enable it by pressing 

“MENU/OK”

; the

following message will appear:

ENERGY SAVING

in this mode the machine remains on but no
components are active.

• To deactivate the 

“ENERGY SAVING”

function, press 

“MENU/OK”

.

RINSING

Immediately after heating up, the appliance
automatically eliminates the water left standing
in the internal circuit to ensure that only fresh
water will be used to make coffee.

The function is activated in the factory.

• To deactivate it, go to the programming mode

and press “

” or “

” to select the function:

RINSING

and enable it by pressing 

“MENU/OK”

. The

following message will appear:

RINSING
ON

Now press “

” or “

”to select

RINSING
ON

  

RINSING
OFF

and store the selection by pressing 

“MENU/OK”

.

We recommend selecting:

RINSING
ON

LANGUAGE

This function allows you to change the
language of the display. You can choose
among Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish,
English, French and Dutch. The appliance is
normally set on the language of the country it
is to be sold in.

• After accessing the programming mode, press

” or “

” to select the function:

LANGUAGE

and then enable it by pressing 

“MENU/OK”

.

The display will show:

 

LANGUAGE
ENGLISH

Press “

” or “

” to select the desired language

and then press 

“MENU/OK”

 to memorise it.

WATER HARDNESS

The hardness of tap water may vary from
region to region. For this reason, the
appliance may be adjusted according to the
degree of hardness of the water in the place
it will be used in; hardness is measured on a
scale of 1 to 4.

The appliance is already programmed for
an average value (hardness 3). 

The

appliance setting should be adjusted according
to the actual hardness of the water, which can
be measured using the test strip provided.

Briefly dip (1 second) the test strip
provided in water and shake it gently. After
one minute you can read the test results
on the strip.

• After accessing the programming mode press

” or “

” to select the function:

 

WATER HARDNESS

and enable it by pressing 

“MENU/OK”

.

• The display will show:

WATER HARDNESS
HARDN 3

• Check the test strip previously immersed in

water to see how many squares have changed
colour.

• Press “

” or “

” to select the correct water

hardness (e.g. 2 squares = Hardness 2) and
memorise it by pressing 

“MENU/OK”

.

Caution: descale the appliance when
the max water hardness level is reached.

The display will show the message:

DESCALING
READY FOR USE
