Checking the memory
capacity
If the memory is not installed correctly,
an error message "Expansion memory
error" may be displayed when you turn
on the notebook. If such a message
appears, turn off the notebook, remove
the memory module and reinstall it.
1.
Turn on the notebook.
2.
Click the Start button and select Control
Panel.
The Control Panel window appears.

Click Performance and Maintenance, and
then System.
The System Properties dialog box.
4.
Check whether the circled numeric value
in the figure below has increased by the
size of the memory you have added.
In this example, 512 MB of memory is
installed.
* The notebook uses 8MB of memory for
internal use, therefore a memory capacity
smaller than the actual installed memory
capacity is shown in this windows.

Click OK.
If the numeric value displayed does not
agree with the memory capacity of your
notebook, check the newly installed
memory module.
Changing memory module
The memory module installed on your notebook
can be replaced with a larger size of memory.
1.
Turn off the notebook and disconnect the
AC adapter from it.
2.
Close the LCD panel and place the
notebook upside down.
3.
Remove the screws (two) securing the
memory compartment cover and remove
it.
Remove memory compartment cover at the
bottom of the notebook.
