Recording Movies Recording Movies
The camera can be used to record short high-defi nition movies. Sound is recorded in stereo via the
built-in microphone; do not cover the microphone during recording.

Recording ends automatically when the mov-
ie reaches maximum length or memory is full.
R Zoom can be adjusted while recording is in progress.

Sensitivity and frame size and rate can be selected
using the

MOVIE SET-UP option(

90). Focus
mode is selected using the focus mode selector
(
P 55); for continuous focus adjustment, select C ,
or choose S and enable Intelligent Face Detection
(

86). Intelligent Face Detection is not available in
focus mode M .

During recording, exposure compensation can be
adjusted by up to ±2 EV.
R The indicator lamp lights while movies are being
recorded.

Touch zoom (

30) is not available during movie re-
cording.

The area recorded when ON is selected for

DIGI-
TAL IMAGE STABILIZER is smaller than that shown
in the monitor ( P 91).

Recording may be unavailable at some settings,
while in other cases settings may not apply during
recording.
Q The microphone may pick up lens noise and other
sounds made by the camera during recording.

Vertical or horizontal streaks may appear in movies
containing very bright subjects. This is normal and
does not indicate a malfunction.

Manual aperture adjustment is available in shooting
modes
A and M ; adjust aperture before recording
begins. Choose low f-numbers to soften background
details. The eff ect can be heightened by increasing
the distance between your subject and the back-
ground.
