2 to 3 cm and must be tested on a training slope. The left and right brakes must be adjusted
symmetrically.
If the brakes are shortened, care must be taken that the paraglider is not slowed down in
trim and accelerated flight. Safety issues may arise and performance and launch behaviour
may deteriorate if the brake lines are shortened too much.
If the brake lines are too short, the following risks could arise:
●
there could be an early stall
●
the paraglider does not launch well and there is a risk of deep stall
●
the paraglider exhibits dangerous behaviour in extreme flying
●
the trailing edge of the paraglider is braked in accelerated flight which, in an extreme
case, could cause a frontal collapse
WARNING: Environmental conditions can also lead to the brake lines shortening. You
should therefore check brake line length regularly, particularly if there is any change in
launch or flight behaviour.
Variable brake pulleys
Upper brake pulley
The position of the upper brake pulley can be adjusted to suit the needs of the pilot by
sliding the pulley webbing freely on the riser. If the brake handle is still difficult to reach
despite the correctly selected hook-in loop on the
riser (e.g. with the trimmer Open), the brake pulley
can be pushed downwards on the riser.
WARNING: If the brake pulley is pushed
downwards on the riser, the main brake line
must be enlarged to the distance the brake
pulley has been moved downwards! Otherwise
the glider will be braked even when the brake is
fully released.
In the case of free flying, the brake pulley must
always be placed in the upper position and the
length of the main brake line adjusted to this
(factory setting of the brake).

Lower brake pulley
The APAX evo riser has a lower brake pulley which is appropriate for very high attachments,
e.g. when the glider is used with a trike. If you choose to use the lower brake pulley in this
way, be sure to check that the brake lines are the right length. You may have to lengthen the
brake lines to avoid the trailing edge being inadvertently pulled down when the glider is fully
accelerated with the trimmers open.
