6.5.2 WAN Connection

Here you can setup your connection to the internet or different network.

Options

Description

Run DHCP client

Run the DHCP client. If the WAN port is connected to a
DHCP server (for instance to another router) you will
need to setup the WAN connection with this option.

Run DSL client

If the WAN port is connected to a DSL or cable modem
directly, you often need to specify data given to you by
your provider. This option lets you run PPPoE and other
types of DSL and cable connections.

Login

This is the username you got from your ISP.

Password

This is the password you got from your ISP.

Retype password

This is the password you got from your ISP.

Dial on demand

A DSL connection will only be established if requested
by a PC in the network.

Idle time (in seconds). Use this option if you have a time-limited internet

access. The DSL connection will be disconnected if no
data traffic is detected within a certain range of time
the user can specify (in seconds).

Use  fixed  IP  address

This allows you to manually enter you network informa-
tion IP address. This is your fixed IP address, please ask
your ISP or network manager for the information.

Subnet mask

This is your subnet mask, please ask your ISP or network
manager for the information.

Default gateway

This is your fixed default gateway address, please ask
your ISP or network manager for the information.
