Fredenstein ramDI
DI Function:
Connect an instrument like a guitar or keyboard using a 1/4” standard instrument cable (TS, TIP-
Sleeve). The input impedance is 2M Ohms to insure compatibility with most instrument pickups.
The balanced output of the DI amplifier is located on the back-panel, a male XLR connector labeled
DI Out.
Please connect this output to an input of your audio interface or console. Now you are able to record
the instrument through your audio interface or console. The recording level can be set by the
Instrument level control. If the Direct Mon. switch is in the On position, an attached instrument
amplifier (see Re-Amplification section below) is active as well to give the player his usual
acoustical feedback. The Re-Amplification circuit is disabled as long as Direct Mon. is On.
The instrument input and the output are isolated from each other to prevent hum generated by
ground loops.
Re-Amplification:
First, please turn the Amp Level control all the way counterclockwise to minimum and set the
Direct Mon switch to the Off position. Provide a signal from your audio interface or console to the
Amp In female XLR connector located on the back-panel. Connect your instrument amplifier with a
standard TS instrument cable to the Amp Out jack. Adjust the Amp Level control to the desired
volume. Try the impedance settings 1, 2, and 3 to find the optimal sound.
