causes sufficient longitudinal deceleration.

The safety belt pretensioners are designed to activate in frontal,

Side airbags are designed to inflate in side impact crashes, not
rollovers, rear impacts, frontal or near-frontal crashes, unless the crash
causes sufficient lateral deceleration.
