Test the Connections
Test communication
Follow these steps to test communication.

1 Check that the cables to the modem are connected securely.
2 Check the supply voltage to an external modem.
3 Check the communication led on the front panel. These should flash when the
unit is transmitting and receiving data.
4 Check the modem led to determine if the modem is transmitting and receiving
data.

5 If a modem with a dialup connection between RTU and central system is used,
then check the telephone connection by
• connecting a telephone in parallel with the RTU
• calling another number to test the connection
• calling the RTU from an ordinary telephone to test if the RTU answers.
Test level sensor signal
Follow these steps to test level sensor signal.

1 Check for a voltage of at least 6V DC across the terminals.
2 • Lift the sensor out of the water and check that it is delivering a 4 mA current
signal.
• Check that the signal changes when the sensor is again immersed in water.
Test digital inputs
To test digital inputs
• activate a signal, such as a motor protection, and
• check that the led for the input is lit.
Test supply voltage
Follow these steps to test supply voltage.

1 Check the power supply unit connections.
2 Measure the supply voltage at the terminal block and check that it is within the
specified range.
