990-GM/2
ADSLx Golden Modem
Quick Reference Guide
General Description
The 990-GM/2 (Golden Modem) appliqué is used with the CopperPro 990 DSL
Modem Test for testing ADSL, ADSL2, and ADSL2+ services. It contains an industry-
standard ADSL/2/2+ modem (ATU-R) that is housed in a compact metal case and
carried in the front pouch of the 990 softcase. The pouch flap can be opened for
connecting the Ethernet cable or for viewing the GM/2 Status indicators.
GM/2 Status Indicators
•
POWER
: green LED that is located in the upper right corner of the ENET jack.
Indicates that the 990 has applied power to the GM/2 during operation of the
DSL Modem Test.
•
SYNC
: green LED that is located in the upper left corner of the ENET jack.
Indicates the following:
•
Flashing (slow or fast): the GM/2 is in the process of training with a far-end
ADSLx DSLAM modem via the DSL Test Cord.
•
Steady: the GM/2 has trained with a DSLAM modem, and link statistics are
available.
GM/2 Connectors
990
: RS232 control / power jack that is connected with a flat cable to the 990.
The cable is secured to the GM/2 990 jack and removable at the 990 serial port.
This allows you to plug a standard serial cable into the 990 for downloading
new program versions or uploading stored data files to a PC.
DSL
: RJ11 jack that is connected with the attached DSL Test Cord to the line
under test. The DSL Test Cord (RJ11-to-RJ11/Test Clip cable) is coiled inside the
Test Lead pouch. It is connected to the line under test either by attaching the Tip
and Ring clips to a wiring terminal or by inserting the RJ11 plug into the NID
connector or house wiring RJ11 jack.
ENET
: RJ45 jack that is used to connect the supplied Ethernet cable to a PC.
