Note
Thermocouples often have no electrical isolation. Make sure the thermocouple wire and plug
are not affected by extraneous temperature sources. For example, do not place fingers on the
thermocouple plug or wire when simulating a temperature.
You must use thermocouple wire and connectors that match the type of thermocouple. For
example, if simulating a temperature output for a type K thermocouple, use type K
thermocouple wire and type K connectors.
To set a simulated Thermocouple output (
Function > Single Output > TC Source
), refer to
and the example shown in Table
for output entry basics. The simulated thermocouple
temperature output (a small dc voltage based on the selected temperature and type of thermocouple)
is at the Calibrator front-panel TC connector. Where necessary, use
I
to set °F or °C. To toggle the
degree reference between the 1968 International Provisional Temperature Standard (IPTS-68) and the
1990 International Temperature Standard (ITS-90), toggle the
Temperature Scale
softkey.

Dual output functions facilitate calibration of power analyzers and meters for single-phase instruments.
Multiple Calibrators can be configured together in a system for multiphase-power analyzers and
meters.
For all dual output functions, two simultaneous outputs are generated and use four output terminals.
The primary output is always voltage and uses the Output VZ and LO terminals, while currents
≤
3.1 A
use the VI AUX and Sense LO terminals. For dual outputs where the current is >3.1 A, use the 30A and
Sense LO terminals.
When you enter only a current value, the Calibrator changes to SINGLE output current. When you
enter only a voltage value, the Calibrator changes to SINGLE output voltage. When in dual output,
always enter BOTH voltage and current, even if you want to change only one entry.
