ELECTRICAL

Wiring

Risk of dangerous or fatal
electric shock.
Connect
ground wire before connecting
power supply wires. Incorrect
voltage can cause a fire or
seriously damage the motor and
voids the warranty. The supply
voltage must be within ±10% of
the motor nameplate voltage.
Do not alter the wiring in the

motor.  Verify motor data voltage is correctly matched to pow-
er source voltage. Never connect a 110/127 voltage motor to a
220-240 voltage power source.

Maintain your pump in compliance with all local codes and
ordinances that apply. Consult your local building inspector for
code information.

If in doubt, consult a licensed electrician.

Use wire size specified in wiring chart. If possible, con-

nect the pump to a separate branch circuit with no other

appliances on it.
1.   Install, ground, wire and maintain the pump in accor-

dance with your local electrical code and all other

codes/ordinances that apply. Consult your local build-

     ing inspector for code information.

2.  Connect the ground wire first. The ground wire must

be a solid copper wire at least as large as the power

supply wires and must meet local and national code

     requirements.

Explosion hazard. Do not ground to a gas
supply line.

•

If you install a pressure switch, there must be a solid

metal connection between pressure switch and motor

to provide motor grounding protection. If the pressure

switch is not connected to the motor, connect the

ground screw in the switch to the motor ground screw.

Use a solid copper wire at least as large as power

supply wires.

WARNING

Lubrication

The motor is lubricated at the factory for the life of
the bearings. The pump seal is water cooled and self
lubricating.

Pump Service

Hazardous voltage. Can shock, burn, or

cause death. Unplug the pump before servicing it. Do not
handle the pump or attempt to work on the pump with
wet hands or while standing on a wet or damp floor.

The motor has an auto-reset thermal overload protector.

If the motor overheats, the overload will cut off the power

to prevent damage and will reset after the motor cools. If

the overload trips repeatedly, check the pump for the cause

(low voltage, a clogged impeller, etc.).

* When using fuses, dual element or Fusetron time delay fuses are recommended for all motor circuits.

•

Connect the ground wire to a grounded lead in the

service panel, a metal underground water pipe, a well

casing at least 10’ (3M) long, or to a ground electrode

provided by the power company.

Connect the cable to the pump as shown in Figure 2.
