8. Test of the Vacuum Splint and Pump
Straighten out the Vacuum Splint,
close the valve
by turning it clockwise and connect the pump.
Evacuate the air until the Vacuum Splint feels rigid and leave it for about 2 hours; if the splint is as rigid as it was
when you started it may be considered tight. Open the valve by turning it counter-clockwise.
If the Vacuum Splint is not airtight, see section 7 for repair or check the valve for leakage.
Try to insert a new valve and repeat the test.
If the pump is not emptying the Vacuum Splint check the pump by closing the connection with your fingertip
and pump a few times.
A negative pressure should be created in the tubing that can be felt at your fingertip. If the pump does not function
do not repair it but return it for service to your dealer or to an Germa service centre.
9. Storage
Loosen the valve by turning it counter-clockwise and put the Vacuum Splint on an even surface.
When the granules have been spread evenly, fold the Vacuum Splint in its initial position.
Repack the Vacuum Splint so that it fits into your storage area. The Vacuum Splint is often positioned
folded in a bag.
