General Features
ADS DECODER Ref. 2409
This device was designed so as to be able to combine MDS General Entries and ADS Interior Blocks.
Conversations within each block are independent and may be held simultaneously with the outdoor panel
or (one) General Entrance. This is because The ADS Decoder also performs the audio switcher function,
which in standby mode isolates the block audio from the General Entrance, so that the indoor (ADS) panels
can have an independent conversation with their apartments. In this way, it is possible to hold simultaneous
conversations in different blocks, each with its own indoor panel. When a call is made from the General
Entrance to an apartment in the block, the decoder connects the audio to the General Entrance. If the call
from the General Entrance is then sent to another block, the decoder disconnects the switcher so that the
block audio is cut off again.
Installation of the ADS Decoder is preferably carried out where the block supply is located, beside the video
switcher if there is one. It is important to use a power supply for each block to avoid interference with the
signals generated in a block (calls, guard unit call confirm tones, ... etc.).
An ADS unit enables handling from 1 to 199 apartments (maximum allowed per ADS), depending on the
setup.
Different types of construction may be found, even within the same residential zone.
- Type A: Individual chalets/villas. The simplest case. An ADS decoder is incorporated responding to one
address per house. The decoder output is placed parallel to the house ADS kit panel and house terminal.
- Types B,C or D: Apartment blocks. There would be several options depending on capacity of each
building. The logical step is to select some digits to designate the block and others for the apartment in
said block.
Each apartment has a designated 4-digit call code when made from the General Entrance panel. These
digits can be entered as follows:
Call Digits
Nº Blocks
Nº apartments/per block
Total apa.
