Halogen Scene Light Model QL97HSCENE
REPLACE LAMP WITH EQUIVALENT ONLY
Replace the halogen lamp with the equivalent lamp type of 50 watts or less. See
Table 2
on page 7
for the lamp part number.
Failure to follow this caution may result in lamp failure and/or equipment damage.
DO NOT TOUCH LAMPS WITH BARE HANDS
Oil deposits on the glass portion of a halogen lamp can cause the glass to facture during use. If you
are unsure whether the glass portion has been handled without gloves, clean the glass using a soft
cloth and isopropyl alcohol before installing the lamp.
To replace the halogen lamp (Figure 2 on page 8):
1. Disconnect all power to the scene light before performing any maintenance.
2. Remove and retain the four M 4.2 x 38 screws that secure the scene light assembly.
3. Carefully remove the scene light assembly.
4. Remove the lens, noting the orientation of the word “TOP” on the lens.
5. Grasp the lamp by its base and gently push the lamp into the socket while turning it to the left until the
lamp is free. Pull the lamp from the socket.
6. To insert the new lamp, align the knobs on the side of the lamp’s base with the slots in the socket.
7. Gently push the lamp into the socket and turn it to the right until the knobs lock into the retaining
notches.
8. Using the four screws removed in step 2, secure the scene light assembly and the lens to the vehicle.
Ensure that the lens is in the correct orientation with the word “TOP” right side up.
Testing the Scene Light
After the installation, test the scene light to ensure that it is operating properly. Also test all vehicle functions,
including horn operation, vehicle safety functions, and vehicle lighting systems to insure proper operation.
Ensure that the installation has not affected the vehicle operation or changed any vehicle safety functions
or circuits.
Do not test the emergency vehicle’s sound and light warning systems while driving the vehicle. Until it is
clear that all warning systems are working correctly, operating them may pose a hazard to the operator and
other drivers if they do not function as expected. Test the vehicle only in a controlled environment.
