8. Slide the ¼" sealing washer over the bolt selected in the previous step. Place the bolt through the hole in
the top of the air cleaner and begin threading into the center hole of the throttle body or carburetor.
9. Use a 3/16" hex key to snug the air cleaner bolt. Be careful, as over-tightening can crush the air filter.
10. The FAST™ Air Cleaner assembly comes with three choices of inserts for the center of the air cleaner.
Select the FAST™, COMP
®
or blank insert and place it in the pocket with the magnet against the bolt.
NOTE: The blank insert is provided for individuals who would like to create an insert with a
custom logo.
11. In order to remove the insert from the air cleaner and access the bolt, simply push down on one corner of
the plug to rock it off the magnet. Then push towards the opposite side and the insert will slide up and
out of the pocket.
12. FAST™ suggests protecting the air cleaner element by following K&N’s recommended cleaning
schedule and routine. Most K&N air filters will normally require cleaning and re-oiling every 50,000
miles, but driving conditions such as dusty roads can cause cleaning intervals to vary. Start by visually
inspecting your air filter every 25,000 miles and cleaning when needed. Use K&N P/N 99-5000 or 99-
5050 to clean and re-oil the filter.
Push down on the corner of the insert.
Slide towards the opposite corner to
remove the insert from the pocket.
