When operating the FARO Photon Laser Scanner, you must
adhere to the eye safety
distance
(nominal ocular hazard distance NOHD). The eye safety distance is
dependent on the requested resolution (see chapter 6.3.1.1.) and on the laser power.
Personnel working in distances shorter than the eye safety distance must wear laser
safety glasses. Prevent people without laser safety glasses from entering this area (e.g.
by using a safety fence).
Regarding eye safety, laser radiation from the FARO Photon Laser Scanner can be
regarded as coming from a pulsed laser source, with repetition rate decreasing and
pulse duration increasing with the requested resolution. By this, the eye safety distance
becomes dependent on the requested resolution. Repetition rate and pulse duration for
different scanning resolutions are as follows:
