Chapter 8: Configuring the Quantum in CAM2 Measure

Distance Interval

: press the green 

Front

 button, or the

 key, to start 

the distance interval. Collect a single reading when the probe moves a 
distance. Choose this option, enter the distance value and press

: press the green 

Front

 key, to start the 

time interval. Collect a single reading over time. Choose this option, 
enter the time value and press 

OK

OTE

: If the current probe is a Laser Line Probe, it is best to use the T

IME

NTERVAL

 setting with a very small time interval. Setting the time interval to 0ms 

collects point data at the Quantum’s maximum speed.

Measuring with the Quantum

Click the green 

Front

 button to collect a point reading. Click the red 

Back

 button 

to accept the collected readings, which is the Sampled End Click.
When measuring with a ball probe 

, the location of the center of the probe 

records as a point each time you press the green 

Front 

button. Because each 

probe has a known diameter, there is a known distance between the center of the 
probe and the outer edge of the probe. This distance needs to be specified 
(projected) for the point to record in the correct location.
The distance between the probe point of contact 

 with the surface being 

measured and the center of the probe 

 is known as Probe Offset 

. This 

transfer of the point from the center of the probe to the correct location is known 
as probe compensation.
