SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR
CRANES
1. Ensure the machine is properly supported during
storage.
2. Before starting the machine, ensure that there are
no personnel within a radius of 20 metres.
3. During operation, the vehicle must be positioned
on sufficiently solid ground, in a properly stable po
-
sition. The support legs must be used in all circum-
stances.
4.
Always put on the parking brake during loading.
5. Do not exceed the given load values.
6. Never stand beneath a hanging load.
7.
Do not leave booms in raised position unattended!
8. The crane must not be used for lifting personnel.
9.
The crane must not be used to tow or lift general
cargo.
10.
Do not run the machine’s movements to their
extremes at full speed.
11.
When lifting, note that the booms sag slowly.
12. If the booms sag under excess loading, use the
folding boom to move the load closer to the column.
Do not open the grapple.
13.
Take particular care when lifting heavy loads and
turning the crane to the side.
14.
If the combination begins to tip, lower the load to
the ground immediately. Do not drop the load by
opening the grapple. Do not jump off of the vehicle.
CONTACT WITH POWER LINES
When working in the proximity of live wires, always ad
-
here to the given safety distances (cf. table).
If the machine comes into contact with a power line, do
the following:
1. Call for assistance immediately and ensure that no
one enters the danger zone.
2. If you are outside the machine, do not touch any
part of the machine.
3. If you are inside the machine, leave it by JUMPING
OUT. When you jump, make sure both feet touch the
ground at the same time. Do not touch the vehicle or
the ground with your hands after jumping out. Move
at least 20 meters away from the vehicle by hopping
on two feet.
4. Contact emergency rescue services immediately.
WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF PERSONAL
INJURY
1. If you arrive at the scene of an electrical accident,
do not put your own life in danger by taking unsafe
measures.
2.
First, determine whether high voltage or low
voltage is involved.
3. If high voltage is involved, do not attempt any
rescue until the power company has shut off the po
-
wer. Even approaching a victim who has come into
contact with a power line or piece of equipment
touching a power line can be dangerous. Remember
that a high voltage line does not "just blow a fuse" - it
remains dangerous until a professional de-energises
it.
4.
You can remove a victim who has come into contact
with a low voltage line or piece of equipment touch
-
ing the power line using a dry rope or dry, unfinished
wood pole or board. Try to stay as far away as pos
-
sible. Do not touch the victim until they have been
completely removed from the live lines or equipment.
5. If the victim is unconscious, begin performing
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately.
