Safety Alert Symbol

This Safety Alert Symbol (Figure 3) is used both in
this setup instructions and on the machine to identify
important safety messages which must be followed to
avoid accidents

This symbol means:

: White lettering / Red background. Indicates

an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,

Modifying the Briggs and Stratton
Tailpipe:

1. Make sure all moving parts have stopped, the parking

brake is engaged, and the key has been removed.
Allow unit to cool before starting these instructions.

WARNING

The engine can become very hot. Touching a
hot engine can cause severe burns.

Allow the engine to cool completely before
service or making repairs around the engine
area.

2. Prior to installing the Ultra Vac, cut the tailpipe back

4 1/4 inches (10.8 cm) as shown in Figure 4.

Installing the Collection System

For Lazer Z Units Serial Number
510,000–789,999:

Note:

Reference Figure 1 and Figure 2 for the item

numbers called out in the installation instructions.

1. Temporarily remove the ROPS to allow for

installation of the Ultra Vac. Retain the hardware
for reuse.

2. When installing the Ultra Vac onto a liquid-cooled

Lazer Z, the rear bumper plate must be removed.
Remove rear bumper plate. Reattach the lower side
bumper bars to the vertical “HOT” engine guard
shield using two of the original screws, washers and
whizlock nuts removed from the bumper plate.

3. Remove the lower two screws holding the clutch

guard plate (“HOT” engine guard on liquid-cooled
units) to the rear frame of the Lazer Z unit.

4. Install the mount weldment (item 9) loosely to the

rear of the machine using the two bolts and nuts
removed in step 1.

5. Install the frame brackets (item 16) and spacers

(item 17) loosely to the mount weldment (item 9) as
shown. Secure using two 3/8-16 x 1 1/4 inch screws
(item 23), two 3/8 spring disc washers (item 25) and
two 3/8-16 inch whizlock nuts (item 24). Make sure
that the raised portion of the spring disc washer
faces the head of the screw (see Figure 5).
