Selecting the Fiber Type
As you select the fiber type for your inspection, your unit displays the
typical colors of singlemode and multimode fiber jackets to help you
identify it.
Singlemode APC
Fiber type selected by default for multi-fiber
connectors.
Fiber jacket is usually yellow and connector is
green.
Multimode OM1
Modal bandwidth: 200-500 MHz·km.
Fiber channel designation: M6.
Fiber jacket is orange or slate.
Multimode OM2
Modal bandwidth: 500 MHz·km.
Fiber channel designation: M5.
Fiber jacket is orange.
Multimode OM3
Modal bandwidth: 1500-2000 MHz·km.
Laser optimized (VCSEL) at 850 nm.
Fiber channel designation: M5E.
Fiber jacket is aqua.
Multimode OM4
Modal bandwidth: 3500-4700 MHz·km.
Laser optimized (VCSEL) at 850 nm.
Fiber channel designation: M5F.
Fiber jacket is aqua or violet.
Multimode OM5
Modal bandwidth: 3500-4700 MHz·km.
Wideband multimode from 850-953 nm.
Fiber jacket is violet or lime green.
