Section 5 – Configuration and Management
5.0 Using the Command Line Interface (CLI)
The EX-5i utilizes a CLI as a means to set key parameters on the system. The Console port may
be used for serial devices, or the Ethernet MAIN or AUX ports may be used for a Telnet session
over a network connection.
5.0.1 Connecting to the Radio with a Serial Connection
For serial interface to the Console port, on your PC, PDA, Terminal or any other device that has
a serial interface and text-input capability, use Hyperterminal or a similar program with the
following settings:
Bits per second:
9600
Data
bits:
8
Parity: None
Stop
bits:
1
Flow
Control:
None
A standard null-modem serial cable is required for connection between most computers and the
Console port. See Appendix D for wiring detail.
After making the serial connection with your program may require to press ENTER to see the
login prompt.
5.0.2 Connecting to the Radio with a Telnet Connection
For a Telnet connection to the radio through the Ethernet AUX port, using Windows OS,
perform the following steps:
•
Open a Command Prompt, or MS-DOS prompt (Start>Run>cmd)
•
Enter the following at the command line of the command prompt window:
C:\>Telnet
<IP Address>
Note: The default IP address of the EX-5i is
10.0.0.1
Note: You may reset the default address to a different address through serial CLI using
the Console port, or back to the default address by radio reset (as described in section
4.2.4)
Note: Your computer needs to be in the same IP subnet as the radio to use the Telnet
function.
