Fit the front log. In the centre of the burner is a groove for the front log to be located. Gently rub ember 

glow into the burnt surfaces of the log.
Place  ceramic ember cubes along the holes of the burner in front of and to the sides of the right hand log, with 
teased out sections of ember glow under each ember cube, leaving about 5mm between each cube.
